Cases with Daniel Tseng, MD, FACS

Seeking technology that benefits patients

Daniel Tseng, MD FACS, regularly sees patients with foregut conditions at his practice in Portland, Oregon. He also always has an eye out for new innovations, and hearing about the objectivity of the TissueCypher test intrigued him.

“I was very interested because I treat a lot of patients with Barrett’s esophagus,” he says. “ One of the barriers we have is understanding what the risk of developing esophageal cancer is. And this is a new testing algorithm that allows us to risk stratify these patients and obtain a lot more data on how to treat them.”

Dr. Tseng presented several cases at the AFS 2023 conference. Two of those cases are detailed below and show how objective data from TissueCypher helped to advance patient care.

  • TissueCypher allows us to predict which patients are at higher risk for developing esophageal cancer, which allows us to potentially intervene early with the goal of preventing the formation of the cancer.
